This lone tree was uploaded to our Facebook page. It was taken by photographer Andy McDonald.
He tells us, ‘My 2018 photography project is on lone trees, so I was excited about visiting the Yorkshire moors to see what I could find. I saw this tree as I walked from Top Withens [a ruined farmhouse near Haworth, West Yorkshire] towards Stanbury. I got down low to frame the tree against the sky with the path leading in. The tree leaning to the right was a bonus! I used manual exposure to retain detail in the clouds, knowing I’d lift shadows before converting using SilverEfex Pro.’
