Ultra-fast Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8

-

MEANWHILE, Tamron has announced that it’s in the process of developing two new lenses for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, with both due for release by the end of this year. As yet, there’s no indication of pricing.

First up, the 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD will be the rst E-mount zoom to boast a super-fast maximum aperture of f/2. The rm claims it will be ideal for travel photography, thanks to its broad zoom range and 33cm minimum focus distance. As we’d expect, Tamron also says that the lens will deliver excellent optical performance throughout its zoom range, complemented by fast, precise autofocus driven by a

VXD linear motor.

Second is the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 – a successor to the current E-mount 28-75mm f/2.8 RXD. It’s a substantial update, with new optics designed to keep up with the latest high-resolution sensors and a quicker, more precise VXD autofocus motor. Like its predecessor it will use 67mm lters; it also gains an updated cosmetic design. Both lenses will be compatible with newly developed Tamron Lens Utility software. Via an optional connector cable, users will be able to customise the Focus Set button between an array of handy options, including the ability to jump to a preset focus point; to select between AF and MF; or to switch the focus ring to setting the aperture. It will also be possible to customise how the manual focus ring works and update the lens’s rmware if required.
