What the owners think
Three Fujifilm X-T3 users give their verdict
Benjamin Hoeger
As a landscape and nature photographer, a reliable, small, lightweight camera is very important to me. I have worked outdoors with the X-T3 in a wide range of conditions. It could be scorching heat and dust or the spray of waterfalls to ice and snow. The X-T3 has rarely ever let me down. Saying that, having to frequently change batteries and carry spares can be a bit annoying. In addition, I was once getting ready to capture a sunrise and the camera reset itself to the factory settings. Fortunately, I updated all the important settings quickly, thanks to the simple, well-structured menu.

Over the years I’ve tried different brands of cameras, however nothing in my mind competes with what Fujifilm’s X-series offers in terms of weight, compactness and ultimately the quality of the images a camera like the X-T3 allows me to capture.
As a wedding photographer I find myself holding the X-T3 for hours at a time. The beauty of it being so lightweight allows my wrists to be able to do what they need to without getting tired and sore. The same can’t be said for other brands who offer mirrorless systems, but with much bulkier and heavier cameras and lenses.
If I could change anything about the X-T3 it would be to have the capability of shooting at lower sensitivities than ISO 160 in raw. There has been the odd occasion where this has hindered my photographs.
Ever since I’ve owned the X-T3, it has proven to be an incredibly versatile and reliable from time to time, and now produce large prints more often, I’ve since switched to a full-frame camera but not without a heavy heart. What I really miss on the X-T3 is its folding and tilting display, the live RGB histogram, the DOF and hyperfocal distance workhorse. I can’t see myself changing brands or camera any time soon and I’d recommend it display and the focus stacking option. And don’t forget about the useful firmware updates, which delivered a few added features. What a great brand and camera.

The Fujifilm X-T3 is an extremely versatile camera that can be used for many different genres of photography. What I like about it is that it combines a classy, slightly retro look with numerous manual dials and controls (such as the ISO, shutter speed, exposure compensation dials, and the aperture). I’m fond of the d-pad too, which allows for very quick focus point changes. As for its weather-sealing, I’ve found the X-T3 can be used in humid or rainy conditions without causing damage.
One of the biggest advantages is its excellent sensor, which provides superb light-gathering power. In addition, it enables fast focusing, accurate tracking of moving subjects, and impressive low-light AF sensitivity. All these features produce high-quality images with very good dynamic range performance, texture detail and noise control.
The only possible drawback, which I personally don’t mind too much, is its fairly slim handgrip. I’ve found that this can make it feel less comfortable to shoot with heavy telephoto lenses attached. Find more of my images and follow on Instagram @margo_captures
