SANTAN SPIRITS

-

Peggy

Nose: Brilliant floral and cherry on first nose. Graceful pipe smoke and some currants and apricot. Some fennel and allspice notes appear that do not overpower.

Palate: Zingy ginger and cinnamon with enormous tannins. Once it settles on the tongue some cassis and herbal notes come to the fore.

Finish: Bone-dry finish, yet the spice notes keep their zing before settling.

Comments: Distinctive spice would be good in an Old Fashioned with just the right sugar cube partner to balance. 8.4

Nose: Fruit and vanilla, a bit like vanilla ice cream topped with fruit preserves. It’s supported by rye scaffolding.

Palate: Surprisingly sweet and sippable at this high proof. Dark fruit is met by sweet mint and savory rye. Balance of fruit, baking spice and new leather.

Finish: Lots of sweet oak tannins. Continues to be smooth throughout the medium-long finish.

Comments: As might be expected, a few drops of water really makes this blossom, adding more layers of fruit and spice. 8.8
