Koval Single Barrel Rye Whiskey

KOVAL DISTILLERY

-

Artfully balanced and well rounded

Peggy

Nose: Crushed pecans and dark brown sugar. Soft rye bread. Grits and granola with honey. Nice, warm char notes that smoulder.

Palate: Splashes of ginger and cascading oak with black pepper and some leather. Delicate custard with a fruity peach note.

Finish: Plays with an oriental spice note married with the wonderful oak and a hint of smoke.

Comments: Artfully balanced and well rounded, so over the rocks is a must.

Nose: Fresh rye grass with some wildflowers and berries. Very light, but well balanced. The lightness is a tease, piquing my interest.

Palate: Rye grass joined by light caramel and soupçon of caraway. The berry fruit persists with light pepper and sweet oak.

Finish: Dries quickly to oaky tannins, followed by dark fruit at the end.

Comments: This whiskey makes it a good fit with sweet vermouth in a Manhattan. With the low proof, make it a light-bodied vermouth. 8.4
