Its new dawn for the Amstrad as Colin Bell and the AMTIXCPC team launch their new publication. Also, come & meet the team!

Welcome to the first exciting new issue of AmtixCPC Micro Action, the magazine dedicated to the 8-bit powerhouse that was, and still is, the Amstrad CPC. Covering both the old and new, our dedicated team have been working tirelessly away to ensure we bring you the very best in reviews and features, as well as keeping you abreast of all the latest CPC news, games and previews.

To give you a taste of what to expect in this packed-full first issue — feature-wise, we have David Crookes talking about the vibrant ‘French’ CPC scene and Graeme Mason, who, in the first of a regular series, will be taking a look back at some of the first-ever releases for the CPC. Zoe Kirk Robinson brings us part one of her excellent ‘Launch of the Amstrad CPC’ article while Paul Davies will be taking a look back at the original 1985 Issue 1 of Amtix magazine, of which our publication is a homage too — but we promise we’ll be much better!

Moving on, we also have the talented Mr Simon Butler, who is on hand to guide us through the world of CPC artwork while yours truly will be inviting you all to the new AmtixCPC Tavern for a spot of adventuring.

In Am-Tech this Issue, our regular hardware feature, Chris Weatherley (aka ‘Novabug’) will be guiding you through the extensive world of CPC emulation. And if all that wasn’t enough, there’s plenty of reviews to mull over, the best of which will, of course, receive our prestigious ‘AmtixCPC Accolade Award’. Now, we don’t want this to be a one-way relationship, oh no!, we want to make AmtixCPC Micro Action the sort of mag you want to read, so be sure to to give us some feedback and let us know what you think.

Only with your help will we be able to hone this fine publication to fit your every CPC need.

So, are you

Community

One thing that has amazed me while working on this publication is how strong and vibrant the CPC community is. Thanks to the passion and dedication of the homebrew and demo scene, as well as the fantastic #CPC RetroDev competition that has been running every year since 2013, we have seen some truly outstanding creations that have pushed the humble CPC to its limits and showcased what the machines are capable of.

Gone now are the days of the Amstrad underdog that your fellow Speccy and C64 classmates mocked. Gone too, thankfully, are the cheap Spectrum ports released by lazy developers.

And with the next RetroDev just around the corner, who knows what exciting games we will be treated to this year. I, for one, certainly can’t wait to find out!
