CURSES GALORE

Hi Lloyd,

My first computer was an Amstrad CPC 464, and after getting bored with the free games (Roland on the Ropes, Roland in the Caves, Roland Ahoy and Bridge it etc.) I turned to the manual and learnt BASIC.

The great thing was that it also came with a speech synthesiser and, what could an eight-yearold boy do with that? My Amstrad’s first words were, “have you done a fart?”

Thirty six years on, I’m a professional coder and still programming computers to talk. It’s a lot of fun to write a script on a Mac in PC World and let it run on a delay or startup. My vocabulary of expletives has widened tremendously, so if you’re in Currys and a PC tells you to &#%!@?!”, I may be in store. Regards,
