Where? South of Cardiff city cen­tre, CF10 5AL. Day tick­ets £8. Cardiff Har­bour Au­thor­ity an­nual per­mit £47, from the Bay Vis­i­tor Cen­tre, Chan­nel View Leisure Cen­tre or tackle shops in Cardiff, be­fore fish­ing. Fish­ing only from des­ig­nated ar­eas.

What’s be­ing caught? Carp to 19 lb, along with perch of over 3 lb and pike to dou­bles. Tac­tics? Feeder and corn for the carp, and a va­ri­ety of lures for the pike and perch.

Cy Fry, from Cwm­bran, with the 21 lb mir­ror carp he caught on a Choco­late pop-up on Lodge Lake at Cefn Mably Lakes, near Cardiff.

Tac­tics? Ground­bait feeder and mag­gots at 20 m for the bream and roach, or fur­ther out with pop-ups for the carp.
