SPEC­I­MEN an­gler Lee Chat­field was glad that he made the ef­fort to fish Not­ting­hamshire’s River Trent for two days, as he caught an im­pres­sive 55 barbel, in­clud­ing this 13 lb 4 oz ‘beard’.

Burgess Hill, West Sus­sex-based Lee, a former ace match­man, added 11 other dou­bles, all on Sonubaits Code Red boilies and S-Pel­lets.

DANIEL BETTERIDGE had heard of some big grass carp at his lo­cal lake, but was strug­gling to catch one, un­til he hooked this 23 lb 8 oz spec­i­men. Soli­hull, West Mid­lands­based Daniel used floater tac­tics.

ANDY HOLDAWAY had a slow take while carp­ing on a Buck­ing­hamshire lake, re­sult­ing in this 12 lb13 oz bream.The 32-year-old ac­counts as­sis­tant used a Nash Scopex Squid pop-up over 1 kg of boilies, pel­lets and corn.

WAYNE JONES smashed his cat­fish PB just as he was pack­ing up at Beaver Farm, in Sur­rey, latch­ing into this 63 lb 6 oz ‘mog­gie’. Wayne leg­ered lun­cheon meat on a size 1 hook to 18 lb line in the mar­gins.

PHIL DUNHAM was thrilled with this fine 3 lb 5 oz perch, caught at Braf­fer­ton Carp Fish­ery, in North York­shire. Lo­cal Phil of­fered a sweet­corn-and-red­mag­got cock­tail hook bait to tempt the ‘stripy’.

JOINER Adam Hinde had a sur­prise when he latched into this fine pike while barbel fish­ing on the River Sev­ern, at Bewd­ley, in Worces­ter­shire. The 28-year-old Stock­port, Greater Manch­ester, an­gler hair-rigged a big chunk of Spam.
