Bumper barbel hit
SPECIMEN angler Lee Chatfield was glad that he made the effort to fish Nottinghamshire’s River Trent for two days, as he caught an impressive 55 barbel, including this 13 lb 4 oz ‘beard’.
Burgess Hill, West Sussex-based Lee, a former ace matchman, added 11 other doubles, all on Sonubaits Code Red boilies and S-Pellets.
DANIEL BETTERIDGE had heard of some big grass carp at his local lake, but was struggling to catch one, until he hooked this 23 lb 8 oz specimen. Solihull, West Midlandsbased Daniel used floater tactics.
ANDY HOLDAWAY had a slow take while carping on a Buckinghamshire lake, resulting in this 12 lb13 oz bream.The 32-year-old accounts assistant used a Nash Scopex Squid pop-up over 1 kg of boilies, pellets and corn.
WAYNE JONES smashed his catfish PB just as he was packing up at Beaver Farm, in Surrey, latching into this 63 lb 6 oz ‘moggie’. Wayne legered luncheon meat on a size 1 hook to 18 lb line in the margins.
PHIL DUNHAM was thrilled with this fine 3 lb 5 oz perch, caught at Brafferton Carp Fishery, in North Yorkshire. Local Phil offered a sweetcorn-and-redmaggot cocktail hook bait to tempt the ‘stripy’.
JOINER Adam Hinde had a surprise when he latched into this fine pike while barbel fishing on the River Severn, at Bewdley, in Worcestershire. The 28-year-old Stockport, Greater Manchester, angler hair-rigged a big chunk of Spam.
