I’ve just positioned myself in a large gap in between some bushes. I can see that the bottom of the stream is clean, which suggests that it has been fished by other anglers.
It is ten metres wide here and there are overhanging branches right across it, upstream and downstream.
I start by casting straight to the most obvious spot, but then work my way around the swim in a methodical manner, covering all angles. I have managed to catch three small perch in three casts, tempting them from upstream and downstream.
