Roach to 8 oz, dace to 4 oz, perch and chublets galore in daytime sessions. Four of the top five weights in the recent Bedford Hospitals Cup Open came from this stretch, led by Paul Reynolds with 20 lb 12 oz of roach. Early mornings or late evenings for the larger chub, tench and a chance of a rare barbel.
Tactics? Pole, long whip or stick float with red and bronze maggots, casters and hemp for the roach and dace. Legered pellets or boilies for a big chub or barbel.

What’s being caught? Quality roach, chunky perch and lots of bleak, dace and chublets feeding well between Bushy Corner and the town bridges. Bigger fish, including tench, bream, hybrids, chub, carp and pike, also present throughout. Tactics? Try hemp, tares or elderberries on pole or waggler to tempt the larger roach amid the big shoals of silver fish. Pinkies over groundbait for bite-a-chuck action from ‘everything with fins’. Chopped worm for the perch and tench.
