Howling at the Wolves
IHAD a good draw in the Wolverhampton AA Threeday Festival, winning the match on Day One on the Stoke City DAA’s Shroppy at Norbury Junction, permanent peg 59, with 10 lb 2 oz of all perch to
1 lb 8 oz, down the track on pole with worm and casters.
Sunday’s match was on Izaak Walton (Stafford) AA’s Shroppy at Little Onn, and I won my five-peg section with 5 lb 11 oz of roach on pole with pinkies and squatts over groundbait. Paul Turner won with 13 lb 11 oz 12 dr – a 4 lb 8 oz chub, a 2 lb bream and hybrids on pole with casters and maggots at peg 12.
I needed a good draw for the Staffs-Worcester Canal in Wombourne, but I got peg 5, with no cover or features, and had small roach, gudgeon and chublets for 3 lb 8 oz and nowhere.
RIGHT: Steve with his Day One winning catch, and (below) the Wolves AA festival top four.
Chris Morris won with 29 lb 7 oz, including a brace of 2 lb crucians, chub, skimmers and perch on pole with worm and casters at peg 8.
Well done to Prestonbased Chris Gorrell (Wayne’s Tackle Matrix) who won with 12 points, and many thanks to Paul and Neil Turner for organising such a great event, which attracts anglers from all over the country.
