DAVE PETCH (Quorn AS) topped the annual Drennan Coors Masters Final, on the Upper Trent around Burton, with 19 lb 2 oz of roach and dace, from peg 26 at Sheratts Farm, where he alternated pole and stick float with maggot and hemp to scoop £500 and a Drennan Acolyte rod.
In the culmination of a series that raised over £2,000 for Macmillan nurses and Prostrate Cancer Research, an incredible four-way tie for second, all with 14 lb 4 oz, meant Coors AC duo Mark Foreshew and Dave Kinson, Rob Quinn (Shakespeare/BaitTech) and Steve Lowther (Daiwa Dons) pocketed £125 apiece. PATSHULL Park, near Wolverhampton, hosted the first Golden Reel Feeder Championships qualifier, where bream to 3 lb on crumb feeder with worm and casters gave John Vernon (Elton Tackle) top honours. Joining him in March’s two-day Final at Larford Lakes, where a prize pot of £26,800 awaits, are Richard Lawson (Total Angling Shrewsbury), who topped the 20-peg Hotel Bank section with 25 lb 3 oz, and Brett Clarke (Drennan Barnsley), whose 8 lb 11 oz at peg 12 was enough to win The Shallows section.
Grand day for Larkin
IN the inaugural, big-bucks Rivermaster match, on Norfolk’s River Yare at Langley, venue expert Nick Larkin (Nisa) pocketed a cool £1,000, thanks to 18 lb
10 oz of feeder-tempted bream and skimmers from peg 114.
Martin Caldecoat (Willow Grange/Stanjays) ran him close, finishing with 18 lb 4 oz of roach from peg 142, earning him a £500 consolation cheque.
Eclipse shade it
TEAM ECLIPSE overshadowed 11 six-man teams in Round One of the Izaak Walton Stafford AA/Lifestyle MG Teams of Six Autumn League, contested on the Staffs-Worcester Canal, with 29 points.
Adam Slade (Browning Central) topped the individual stakes with 15 lb, catching five late bream on long pole with casters and worm from peg B4 on the Stafford Boat Club marina mouth, beating Dave Smith (Four Ashes) on 13 lb 15 oz.
