A FEMALE angler will contest the Fish‘O’Mania Final for the first time, thanks to a ‘ladies only’ qualifier, introduced by promoters Matchroom Multi Sport and the Angling Trust.

A 50-entry qualifier for females will run alongside a 150-entry qualifier at Cheshire’s Partridge Lakes on Saturday, April 20.

Matchroom Multi Sport COO Emily Frazer said: “As part of our goal to encourage wider participation in angling, we have introduced an all-female qualifier for the first time for 2019.

“As we have seen at the Fish‘O’Mania Ladies match,

Fish‘O’Mania 2019 qualifiers there are some incredibly talented female anglers in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase female angling on the biggest day in the match calendar, which is fully supported by our broadcast partner Sky Sports, who we will work closely with to continuously build Fish‘O’Mania and the sport of fishing.”

The ticketing system leading to a 22-angler Sky Sports live-televised Final at Hayfield Lakes, on Saturday July 13, 2019, with a £50,000 cheque awaiting the winner, is otherwise unchanged.

Ticket prices are pegged at £25 per qualifier and will go on sale in two batches via the Angling Trust events booking website.

The first application round commenced last Friday, October 26, and closes a minute before midnight next Tuesday, November 6, with a maximum of two tickets per applicant.

The second window opens at noon on Tuesday, November 13, with no limits on the amount of tickets bookable. Individual membership of the Angling Trust is required by all applicants, who must be aged 16 or over.
