Hardcore drum THIS WEEK’S MISSION
After driving past a place for so long, I decided to put the effort in and actually fish it… instead of wistfully dreaming about what’s really swimming in there. I had heard tales of huge fish, but from the same person who told me that an eagle swooped down and picked up a 10 lb carp! VENUE: The Carrs is just outside Mansfield, at Church Warsop, and is controlled by the local council and ‘friends of the Carrs’ volunteers. Tickets for this Nottinghamshire ‘pool’ are available on the bank. WEATHER: yet again, the weather lady proved about as useful as ‘NonFlying Dutchman’ Dennis Bergkamp’s Airmiles! The forecast was a mild one, bright and nice for mid-November, but it turned out to be howling and raining. Not too bad for fishing, but not pleasant to sit it out in if you happen to be an angling photographer.
IDON’T make this game easy for myself. I could pick an easy commercial each week and plaster a few pages about how good I am, but no, old Stevie boy likes to make it as difficult as possible, it seems.
You see, I had spied a lovely venue, pretty quiet apart from a main road nearby, but every time I had driven past or pulled up on the car park, it seemed very peaceful.
Sing along with me: “There’s a circus in the town, in the town. Stevie Collett is a clown, is a clown.”
