Once you’ve tied your rig, take a length of waxed bait floss and pass it through the ring or the eye of a hook swivel, en­sur­ing that both tag ends are the same length. You can also use low-di­am­e­ter Dyneema braid, from the cen­tre of coated hook links, if you don’t have floss in your box. Pierce your pop-up as usual and, us­ing a lip-close nee­dle, thread the bait down the floss. En­sure that it’s pushed down onto the cen­tral bar­rel of the hook swivel, plug­ging the nee­dle hole, to stop wa­ter up­take.
