3 lb and lots of perch to 1 lb 8 oz be­ing caught. Dou­ble-fig­ure pike skulk­ing around, too.

Tac­tics? The big­ger roach and perch are be­ing tempted on pole with cast­ers and mag­gots. Bream, skim­mers and roach go­ing for mag­gots and bread punch. Shop-bought dead­baits and lures for the pike.

Shake­speare Su­perteam/BaitTech cap­tain Dar­ren Massey caught a trio of 3 lb 8 oz, two big perch and roach on the Ere­wash Win­ter League prac­tice match for 14 lb 7 oz. Ian Robinson (Mill Tackle) had a brace of tench and stacks of perch for sec­ond with 11 lb 1 oz. Perch and lots of roach in the other weights. Pike to dou­bles lurk­ing.

Tac­tics? The tench are be­ing caught on pole with bits of worm. Perch to 1 lb 8 oz are com­ing to lob­worms and blood­worm (Oct 1 to Mar 31 only) over joker. The roach can’t get enough of blood­worm over
