RIVER ace Dean Brook started 2019 in style, catching this 24 lb 3 oz pike from a local venue. The landscape gardener from Dewsbury Moor, in West Yorkshire, offered a smelt in3 ft of water, but fears that the pike may have been attacked by an otter.
ROB FINCH caught four ruffe, including this 4 oz specimen, along with bream and perch on the River Thurne at Potter Heigham, in Norfolk. Wattonbased Rob said: “All fell to legered worm tipped with maggots. One of the ruffe seemed large, so I stopped a passing boat with two pike fishermen on board and borrowed a set of scales to weigh it.”
