SIX MOST EXPENSIVE TACKLE ITEMS
Following a day ticket at Chew Valley Lake making £880 on eBay, we look at six of the most expensive tackle items ever produced
THE £8,000 POLE: The most expensive carbon fishing pole ever made was by Triana for the Future company in the UK. The sole production model had a price tag of £8,000 and although very light, it was extremely brittle. Unsurprisingly it was never put on the market. The Daiwa Tournament 710 is the most expensive pole ever sold, at £7,500.
RIVE D36 SEATBOX: France-based Rive’s flagship D36 ST seatbox will set you back around £1,099, or £1,200 for the RX version. World Championships anglers are big fans.
DAIWA TOURNAMENT BASIAIR REEL: The priciest reel in carp fishing costs £899. It weighs just 445g yet can hold 240m of 12lb line – a true thoroughbred!
OYSTER BAMBOO FLY RODS: These are custom made, and a host of extras can be added. Each one costs $4,600 (£3,247), and a deposit of $1,150 is required before work starts. Hand-engraved real seats and 24k gold inlays are available to order.
MACDADDY’S MILLION DOLLAR LURE: In 2006 a $1,000,000 lure was on show at the ICAST tackle trade show. It incorporated 3lb of 14k gold and platinum and 100k of diamonds and rubies. Its owner put it into action in the USA after taking out an insurance policy, but was only allowed to troll it for 30 minutes in the confines of Cabo San Lucas bay. Luckily he had no takes!
ANDREW FIELD FLOATS: These works of art include materials such as reed and quill. His Perchfisher Perch Bob costs £36 and his Reed and Fluted Avon £35. He will also customise special patterns, costing hundreds of pounds, with feathers!
