CHESTNUT LAKE

THIS very mature 5.5-acre lake is stocked with carp to 55lb, plus catfish, perch, tench, zander, pike and silverfish.

This is a very family-friendly venue in the Limousin region, with the option of having all fishing equipment, bait, bikes and food supplied. An on-site chalet sleeps six and is fully equipped with satellite television, a DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine and cooking facilities.

Guests get exclusive use of surrounding woodland and lawns, which include a barbecue area, playground, badminton court, small swimming pool and undercover table tennis area.

Chestnut Lake is 25 miles north of Limoges Airport, which is about an hour’s flight from Stansted, Liverpool, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds and Southampton airports.

There are also good connections from the Eurostar service. Contact: www. chestnutlakefrance.com or call Michael on 0033 555763433

LAC DE PREMIERE

OWNED by Premier League footballer Tony Hibbert, this 33-acre venue is going from strength to strength, producing plenty of big fish each year.

The lake contains 750 carp to over 60lb, and there’s a bar and restaurant on site.

Located just two-and-a-half hours from Calais, this venue is one of the most popular in France for the allround angling experience it offers. Contact: www.lacdepremiere.com

TRANQUILLITY LAKES

ABOUT four hours from Calais lies this relatively new venue, which opened to anglers in 2014. There are two lakes on site, though only one is currently open – a beautifully landscaped and peaceful 10-acre pool available to just seven anglers at a time.

The carp, of which there are 200 to 50lb-plus, are not fished for in winter and provide excellent sport. The swims are spacious and comfortable, and a food package is also available. Contact: www.tranquillitylakes.com or call Tony on 0033 (0) 324413175
