FIVE lakes here give the visiting angler so much to go at that they’ll need to book in a lengthy stay to get the best out of it all! Woodland Waters has a wide range of accommodation and all the facilities you’d expect, including a well-stocked restaurant and bar. It’s a real winner with anglers from the Midlands and South Yorkshire, and just as popular with day ticket anglers too.
The 14-acre Specimen Lake is a mainly carp water but also holds bream, rudd, roach, perch and pike . Next door is the Match Lake, home to tench well into double figures, bream, roach, rudd, perch and carp.
Birch Lake is Woodlands’ newest lake, heavily-stocked with carp to 10lb, tench, bream, roach, and rudd. For plenty of action, check out the Small Carp Lake and Roach Pool, both stuffed with carp, tench, roach and crucians.
Bring your own tent or caravan and you can stay on the large site that has two amenity blocks, electric and non-electric pitches, picnic areas and a children’s play area. If you fancy a more solid roof over your head, check out the range of lodges.
These include the Lake View and Lake View en-suite lodges overlooking the Match Lake and offering spacious open plan accommodation on one level – lounge and dining area, breakfast kitchen, double bedroom (en-suite with a shower room) and two twin bedrooms, bathroom and terrace. The Park Home Lodges overlook the Specimen Lake with a lounge and dining area, kitchen, bathroom, double and twin bedrooms and outside seating area.
All are equipped with flat screen TV’s, oven & hob, central heating, full-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and barbecue.
New for 2016 are the Woodland Rooms with a king-sized bed, shower room, tea and coffee facilities and wall-mounted TV. All are disabled-friendly.
Check out the Woody’s Bar and Lake View Restaurant offering homemade, locally-sourced food and a range of ales, beers and wines. The bar is equipped with a pool table, dartboard, juke box, French boules and two large flat-screen TVs which regularly show sporting events.
