Dennett’s Fishery
Dennetts is a pleasure complex too
ONE of the UK’s first ever commercial fisheries, Dennetts has been running for decades and is still going strong. Formerly Heyford Lakes, the Northamptonshire venue offers three pools both kids, pleasure and match anglers can all excel.
At three-quarters of a mile long and 15m-16m wide, the 132-peg snake lake now caters for pleasure anglers too. It has depths of 4ft-7ft and is stuffed with carp, tench, crucians, chub and silverfish. Tight across, in the near margin and down the track will see you bag up on roach and rudd.
For easy bites from carp and silverfish there is the quarteracre Acorn Lake. This pool suits youngsters or beginners as it holds plenty of small carp and silvers with the odd lump.
The café, meanwhile, offers a good breakfast at the weekend and bait and refreshments every day while the tackle shop stocks fresh bait and gear from all major manufacturers.
