This league began with some solid leading weights made up of roach. Oldham rod Ian Alexander won at peg 24 with 11-4-0 of fish to 1lb on caster fished at 13m. Graham Sixsmith, on peg 16, opted to fish pinkie over groundbait at 12m for second with 10-15-0 of smaller stamp fish.

OAKS LAKES (SAT) Cedar Lake (31 pegs)

The warmer weather has seen a growth in numbers on the opens at the Sessay water. Some 31 turned out on Saturday to see Rob Harbour win with 151-0-0 of carp and quality F1s from peg 45 using maggot at 6m and in the margins. Josh Newton also enjoyed a busy day, to take

second on 140-8-0 of mainly F1s.

OAKS LAKES (SUN) Ash, Beech & Sycamore Lakes (44 pegs)

Paste has won more than its fair share of matches down the years on these lakes, and it scored once again on Sunday. Andy Lumb bagged 147-4-0 to win this big match, fishing at 5m from peg 24 on the Ash Lake. He netted carp to 6lb. That left Andy Barker in second, narrowly behind with 144-13-0.

PARTRIDGE LAKES (SAT) Covey Canal Lakes (84 pegs)

Mark Tregear was a winner once again at Partridge. The Mosella Dynamite Baits North West man took 89-3-0 of F1s on banded pellet fished at 6m from peg 135 on Canal 5. Second was Stoke rod Neil Dimmock with 67-0-0 of F1s at peg 60 on Canal 3. He went for pellet at 13m across and then caster shallow down the middle at 6m.

Sunday’s honours went the way of Adie Twist with a 93-12-0 haul of carp, F1s and ide from peg 63 on Canal 3. Chopped worm and caster in the edge and caster shallow at 6m did the damage for the Matrix Leigh Tackle & Bait angler. Next past the post was Mark Derbyshire on peg 83 of Canal 4, where he stuck to caster shallow at 7m all day to weigh in 90-6-0 of F1s and ide.

Chopped worm and caster is a combo that begins to work around now on commercial­s. Keith Pentland used it to great effect in taking this open with 112-1-0 of carp to 9lb plus roach and skimmers on Wagtail Lake peg 2. He fished at 14.5m, Phil Noble following in second place a carp behind with 108-12-0.
