WAITING GAME FOR A FRENCH 80
Pop-up left out for three days to bag 86lb 4oz Barbie Jo
ABRITISH angler left his hookbait out for three days to bank the biggest carp at Mar-Peche.
Benji Brittin caught the mirror, known as Barbie Jo, from the popular French venue at a colossal 86lb 4oz.
He said: “I started the session fishing on the back of somebody else’s bait, knowing they had fished there the day previous, and I didn’t want to spook them by putting other bait out.
“This tactic worked to catch the first fish of 49lb 2oz. I then started my own session by putting out boilies and crumb on a hard spot close to a weedbed.
“I did this over two days with nothing happening at all. I then decided to leave baiting and left my rig out for three days untouched.
“With the confidence that shrink-wrapping my hookbait would avoid the crayfish, I hoped the fish would feel confident feeding on an undisturbed area.
“On my last day I had a take at 5.45am and had a battle with a fish called Barbie Jo, successfully landing her at 86lb 4oz!
“I found that over-baiting wasn’t working but baiting and leaving it out over long periods was the way to catch on this week’s session.”
Benji used a CC Moore Live System pop-up over 4kg of crumbed and whole CC Moore Live System boilies, plus particles.
