ROACH WIN ON A PATCHY THAMES HIT BY THE COLD

The River Thames was still running low and clear, and with a near-frost the night before, some sections were very hard. As a result, all four leading weights came from one section at Abingdon.

Drennan Oxford Blue’s Tom Hobbs won with 28-5-0 of roach off the end peg, where he fished maggot over groundbait and caster at 13m,

Sensas Reading’s Liam Page-Smith took second from the next peg with 24-1-0 of roach plus a big bonus perch on maggot over groundbait on the long pole.

Sensas Reading won the day with 37 points, but overall, Drennan Oxford Blue hold on to the lead by a point from their Aqua counterpar­ts.
