National Angling Awards poll still open

Time to vote!

THOUSANDS of anglers have already taken to the internet to vote for their favourites in this year’s National Angling Awards.

Polling for the prestigious competition went live on the Angling Times website a week ago and already floods of votes have been received – with the River of the Year, Achievement of 2017 and Catch of the Year categories especially popular.

Poles, reels and rods from some of the most innovative tackle companies in the business have also been in the limelight and subject to lots of attention from the angling public. Browning’s 2017 Sphere Zero-G F1 Plus 16m pole has received hundreds of votes in the ‘Pole over £1,000’ category, while the Drennan Acolyte Distance Feeder 13ft is a front-runner in the ‘Best Feeder Rod’ category. As far as venues go, Norfolk’s Homersfield Lake, with its population of specimen roach, has proved popular in the ‘Stillwater of the Year’ category and the Trent seems to be a safe bet to take the accolade of ‘River of the Year’. Angling Times Editor-in-Chief, Steve Fitzpatrick, said: “It’s fantastic to see that our readers are passionate about their sport and taking to the internet to vote for who and what they want to win in each category. “The quick response further proves how good 2017 has been for fishing – not just regarding catches but for personal achievements, the tackle industry, angling venues and much more. “There’s still plenty of time to have your say and don’t forget, if you submit your details after the end of the voting process, you could win a fantastic tackle prize too.”
