Nothing wrong with keepnets for silvers
I HEARTILY agree with most of the rules imposed on fisheries, but the one banning the use of keepnets is, I feel, a little obtuse.
I appreciate that stuffing carp, barbel and other large species into increasingly smaller nets is not conducive to their health, but nothing is more pleasing than seeing a bag of silvers at the end of a session.
It does the smaller species no harm at all and I believe it would encourage more youngsters into taking up the sport. Such a sight leaves an impression on a young mind and that could be the incentive for them to return. Pete Cairns, email
