Tie three deadly set-ups
Try these four set-ups guaranteed to bag you some late-season stripeys
PERCH are the most obliging of species and one of the great things about them is that you can tailor your approach according to the size of fish you want to catch.
If bites are your thing and you want to catch a good number of small-to-medium-sized perch, you can’t go wrong with a pole or float, feeding a mix of chopped-up worms and casters and fishing a small worm or double red maggot on the hook.
However, if you’d rather target the biggest fish in the shoal, or even a real specimen of 3lb or more, then forget the small worms and use a bigger bait such as a lobworm or a prawn. And if fishery rules allow, you can’t beat a small floatfished livebait.
