LAKE WINDERMERE, LAKE DISTRICT, CUMBRIA

-

Famous for some very large pike to over 30lb, Lake Windermere is one of the largest waters in England. For this reason, the fishing can be extremely challenging, but out in the vast sheet of water are some quality fish. Huge shoals of roach and perch are present, along with the trout and Arctic char the lake was more traditionally known for. There have even been multiple sightings of carp in areas of the lake. For the visiting angler the best advice is to locate features such as dropoffs and keep on the move to find the shoals. Trolling with lures is an effective way to encourage the pike to strike or, if the boat is not your thing, popular bank fishing areas can be found on the western shore of the lake.
