ARDLEIGH RESERVOIR, COLCHESTER, ESSEX

-

This large sheet of water of 120 acres has featured heavily in the angling press over the years, first making a name for its large head of bream and its phenomenal roach sport. Although the blessed cormorant has taken its toll on the redfin stocks, you can still enjoy a fantastic day’s angling here. You won’t need anything too complicated, either – a rod capable of casting a 50g feeder will be ideal for the long-range work often required. Using a traditional mix of groundbait, chopped worm and caster, while fishing one of the latter on the hook, should result in plenty of bites from bream. You’ll also discover the odd very large tench here, and some monster carp that could take some serious dedication to land – ideal if you’re after a challenge. Contact: 01206 230642 Postcode: CO7 7PT
