SIMON MAKES SHORT WORK OF HORTON!

Four trips, 15 carp over 40lb and two huge grassies too

-

HAS anyone ever had a season like the one currently being enjoyed by Simon Kenny?

The 34-year-old’s latest trip to the historic and far-from-easy Horton Church Lake produced his 15th carp over 40lb in just four sessions. There are just 100 carp in the 15-acre Berkshire venue, but Simon is making it look like a runs water.

RK Leisure’s website states there are 16 carp over 40lb in Church Lake. Since April Simon has caught 12 of these, including two of them twice. He’s also had a 41lb 6oz grass carp.

“It was another good trip,” the Norfolk angler said modestly of his most recent four-night session.

Simon has been having most of his success from the Plateau swim, but began this trip elsewhere.

He said: “I started my trip in the Captors swim where I caught the grassie. I then got the chance to move into my old favourite, the Plateau, and managed another five fish. The biggest fish, Spotty, was

actually the last of the lake’s real big ones that I needed.”

Spotty weighed in at 49lb 14oz, while Simon also caught Budda at 47lb, and mirrors of 38lb 14oz, 38lb 12oz and 37lb 8oz. The grass carp weighed 36lb 8oz.

As ever, the welder fished chopped and whole 12mm and 16mm Sticky Manilla boilies soaked in matching cloudy liquid, and presented 16mm White Ones pop-ups over the top.

He used reverse combi rigs made with size 5 Fox Edges Straight Point Stiff Rig hooks, 25lb E-S-P Bristle Filament and 20lb E-S-P Tungsten Loaded braid.
