MASTERFUL MARK IS THE NEW KING OF THE RIVER MEDWAY

-

MEDWAY MASTERS (SAT & SUN) River Medway, Barming Up & Down (48 pegs)

BLAKE’S Baits man Mark Lindsey was crowned Medway Masters champ for 2018 as he finished the two days with 28-14-8 – more than 4lb clear of runner-up Steve Sanders.

Fishing in bright and hot conditions, Mark began with a good catch of bream on day one from peg 74 on the upstream section using groundbait feeder and worm. Day two was a struggle, though, with just a couple of pounds of small fish.

England co-manager Steve had a good second day, drawing the same peg as Mark had on day one to close the gap with another net of bream on the feeder – but ultimately he fell short when the weights were tallied up. 1 dsey, Blake’s Baits, 28-14-8; 2 S Sanders, Preston Innovations, 24-3-0; 3 J Gore, Maver SE, 15-10-0; 4 B Oliver, Marukyu, 15-4-12; 5 M Oakley, APR, 15-0-12; 6 S Cottingham, Maver SE, 14-2-8.
