WB CLARKE BUSINESSMAN’S OPEN (1983)

THIS match took in the whole of Stourport and Bewdley, and the line-up was a who’s who of river fishing. I won it with 37lb 11oz of roach, a catch that netted me £500 – a lot of money in those days.

After the presentation I was congratulated by Kevin Ashurst, who shook my hand and praised my performance.

I floated home that night!
