HUGE BARBEL IN A MATCH

FOR 75 minutes in a match on the Hampshire Avon at Ringwood, 43-year-old Cyril Wilde of the Southall (Middlesex) Piscatorials battled a 12lb 4oz barbel on fragile roach tackle.

Cyril’s total catch of 20lb 13oz won the Southall match by a comfortable margin.

The barbel took two maggots on a size 14 hook and 2.3lb line.
