FISH AWARENESS IS THE WEIGH AHEAD!
FISH welfare and environmental awareness are now a part of anglers’ lives. I think back 50 years to London AA matches when there would be one set of scales and sometimes over 100 anglers on each section.
At the whistle the contents of keep nets would be tipped into canvas buckets with some water in and carried to the scales, wherever they were. Then each fish would be individually measured before being placed in a wire basket and weighed.
Nowadays many match anglers don’t even touch the fish they catch, while for the specialist, equipment to safeguard fish is a top priority as fish are regarded as valuable assets. And a good thing too!
