READER CHALLENGE 2018

CAN YOU CATCH 22 DIFFERENT FISH THIS SEASON?

-

LOVE fishing? Want to catch more fish this season? Then this is the event you’ve got to get involved in this week!

As part of our 65th Anniversary celebrations we’ve created a fun challenge for all our readers – whatever your age, ability, or where you live in the country.

We’ve created a list of 22 fish to target over the next few months – some are easy, while others are more difficult, and you may even catch species you’ve never caught before.

Included in our list are some of fishing’s most common species like carp, roach, perch, and bream, but we’ve also added some of the ‘forgotten fish’ which don’t always make it into anglers’ nets, including dace, ruffe, gudgeon, and rudd.

There are also some real tricky customers in the challenge, but we know that if you follow our advice, learn how to fish a variety of tactics and different waters, you should be able to tick them off your list.

Angling Times Editor-in-Chief, Steve Fitzpatrick, said: “Anyone who can catch all 22 fish on the target list will be able to call themselves a true all-round angler.

“We’ve already started our office challenge with all our checklists pinned up on the notice board and it’s been great fun ticking new catches off after each weekend on the bank.

“Picking the right venues is key and you might find that you can scratch a number of species from just a few hours’ fishing in one spot if you’re flexible with your approach – good luck!”
