IF YOU like fishing big waters for specimen fish of all species, the 114-acre Watermark Fisheries Bradley’s Lake is a place you should visit.
The water is stocked with some massive carp in excess of 40lb, immaculate doublefigure tench, perch over 4lb and some monster pike. Better still, this is all available on a day ticket.
Angling Times recently spoke to Matthew Wood, who fishes the venue and also works in the Tackle Den nearby where the required day tickets are sold. Matt said: “The carp can be caught all around the lake, but on tricky days, fishing at distances of 100 yards-plus can give you a real advantage.
“Small PVA bags and 10mm pop-up hookbaits cast to showing fish can often save a blank for those who keep their eyes on the water.
“If you are staying for a long session a big bed of boilies and pellets can score multiple fish. For the tench, a lot of anglers target the Gate 1 area of the lake. Try to put out a decent bed of maggots or chopped worm with the spod and fish over it with a maggot feeder. This approach has recently caught tincas over 10lb, and is known to catch out some of the venue’s very special perch in excess of 4lb.”
Visitor parking is available in various spots around the lake. There are also two toilets on site.
The Tackle Den is on the main
road nearby and sells day tickets for Watermark Fisheries, as well as a huge range of bait and tackle.
