JELLY pellets are a staple of my pellet fishing, being much more robust than normal expanders, yet with a soft texture that makes them irresistible! They are easy to make, too – just follow these steps to produce your own perfect expanders.

Add half-a-teaspoonful of powdered dye to the hot water to colour the bait. 2

Pour the water mix into your pellet pump, then add about half the volume of pellets to water. 4

Add a sachet of gelatine powder to a pint of hot water, and stir well until the gelatine has dissolved. 1

If you want to flavour your pellets, add a teaspoonful of liquid additive to the water and stir well. 3

Sieve the pellets to remove excess water and stop them becoming too soft. Leave for 30 minutes. 6

Pump the pellets and allow them to stand for about 3-5 minutes, depending upon their size. 5
