BAIT-TECH AND SHAKESPEARE’S DARREN MASSEY SAYS…
Tackle: “There’s no need to fish too light, and 0.12mm mainline to a 0.10mm hooklength will get your plenty of bites. Use a No5 elastic and a size 18 hook and you’ll have a nice balance between cushioning the bites and having enough power to get big skimmers in quickly.”
Bait: “A pint of maggots and the same of casters is all that you need in terms of loosefeed and hookbaits.
“My groundbait is an even mix of Bait-Tech Pro Natural Bream and Pro Natural Dark. Feed three balls at the start, laced with a few freebies on one line.” Tactics: “Rotating between a line where you have fed groundbait and another where you have potted in some loosefeed is the way forward. If a boat ploughs through, don’t feed immediately – put a rig over the top and see if the fish are still in the zone before piling more bait on top of a shoal.”
