TWO CHURCH LAKE BESTS LED BY 48lb 8oz ‘FINGERS’

-

A PAIR of personal bests that included this 48lb 8oz cracker was Dan Adam’s reward for making the long trip from his Somerset home to Horton Church Lake in Berkshire.

The mighty mirror, known as Fingers, was backed up by a new pb leather of 38lb 8oz – as well as a 34lb 12oz common for good measure - during the 34-year-old’s three-night session.

“I’ve had a great first season on Horton, landing 15 carp in 20 nights. Early in the season I did well on white pop-ups, but the fish have become a bit more clued up and a ‘match the hatch’ approach is working better now,” said Dan, who owns the Heritage Ltd Edition tackle company.

“Fingers is the biggest fish in Horton and one I really wanted to catch when I started on the venue. It’s normally around 51lb, but all the fish are a little down in weight this year after a good spawning. I’d dearly love to catch Hercules or the Woodcarving next.

“It’s a real effort working full time and then driving up to Berkshire, which can take around three hours, but some lakes are simply worth making the effort for – I love the place,” he added.

Dan banked all three fish using a stiff hinge rig baited with a Krill pop-up over crushed and whole krill soaked in the matching liquid.

He used a size 5 Atomic Tackle Chodda hook and fished his rig on a lead clip set-up.
