The Canal Lake has been in excellent form, with many bags over 70lb being caught. Maggots and casters are good baits, and recent match-winning nets have contained over 30lb of barbel and ide. Fishing on the deck at the bottom of the nearside slope is a great place to target the barbel, as are the margins, where feeding heavily with maggots can pay off.
