THAT AIN’T NO COOT!
JAMIE Chapman was suffering the frustration of having wildfowl diving over his baited spot at his Hampshire syndicate water when one of his rods rattled off, resulting in this new UK personal-best mirror weighing 43lb 12oz.
He later added another mirror of just under 30lb, both fish falling to Richworth KG1 boilies fished over around 2kg of chops and hemp.
Jamie said: “I found some fish within easy casting range and baited up a spot just beyond a weedbed. I cast all three rods to the same area – a method that sometimes gets you a quick hit of fish. It wasn’t to be the case this time, but I wasn’t complaining when 24 hours later one of my rods signalled a take while I was getting pestered by wildfowl.
“I soon realised it wasn’t a coot to blame! The next morning I added another mirror of 29lb 4oz.”
