Target F1s at the prolific Cunneries

-

IN RECENT years The Cunneries has gained a reputation for consistent winter sport – and it’s certainly living up to that billing with 50lb-plus nets of F1s taken every day.

The five-water complex is situated in the quiet village of Eccleston, near Chorley in Lancashire, and it is the S-Canal that has gained rave reviews since winter began.

This 47-peg venue is seeing fish to 2lb dominating catches. Most tactics will work, although it is essential to use a light rig comprising a 0.12mm mainline, a 0.10mm hooklink and a fine wire size 18 hook. A 4mm expander pellet or corn skins are the best baits, presented over a sprinkling of micros.

Set up three lines so that you can cover the inside margins, down the track and the far bank. Alternate between these to keep bites coming all day.

The Lake is home to plenty of carp which will respond to corn or bread fished close to the features, although maggots and casters are a more reliable option if roach, perch and chub are your targets.

PRICES: £7 adults, £5 concessions
