WELCOME
AT THIS stage in the carping calendar, perhaps more than any other, how much loosefeed you use – and when you choose to introduce it – can have a huge bearing on your catches.
This seasonal pattern emerges every year. As soon as air and water temperatures wane, those anglers who aren’t afraid to pile in the grub are more often than not rewarded for their generosity by a visit from the lake’s prized assets.
Look no further than these pages for proof of this. Take Robert Rees, who got through 20kg of boilies during his short stay at Grenville as he sought to create a ‘feature’ that the lake’s massive carp could home in on. He took a fish that smashed his pb by nigh on 13lb.
Then there’s Steve Wootten, who banked one of Dinton Pastures’ finest at 47lb 14oz after a six-week baiting campaign in an area of the lake deemed unfashionable by most of the other members.
The motto this month has to be ‘be bold with your baiting’...you might just be rewarded.
