Feedermasters Final moves to devon’s proliFic tamar lakes

...and to give anglers a taste of what’s to come it will host a June qualifier too

-

Next year will see a new destination for the final of the popular Preston Innovations FeederMasters match series.

devon’s silverfish-filled Tamar lakes has been chosen for the 2019 final following three years at Bough Beech reservoir in Kent.

several new venues have also been chosen for qualifiers alongside some familiar fisheries to help keep this prestgious event fresh.

The final will take place in september, when the 60 qualifiers will descend on Tamar to do battle for the minimum £12,000 top prize. Tamar will also host a qualifier, while nicholls pit in Kent and patshull park in the west midlands are also on the list.

The same format will again run, with three zone winners from the 20 eliminators going through to Tamar. There anglers will find thousands of roach, skimmers and bream to go for, plus some massive perch over the 4lb mark.

matches have regularly seen 40lb-plus needed to win on the feeder, so it all bodes well for the big weekend. By why make the change from the previous final venue, Bough Beech?

“it is very important that wherever we have the final, we need to create a magic and an atmosphere,” said feedermasters organiser lee Kerry. “The trouble is that when you have a venue that is well known and fished by hundreds of anglers, everyone knows the good and bad pegs and there’s always a ‘favourite’. Tamar will be very different.

“There’s still a great element of the unknown to Tamar and i doubt any of the england feeder team have been there!” he added. “it’s a long way away so anglers will need to travel and stay over, but this will create that atmosphere. of course, we need great fishing, facilities and a team at the venue to help. Tamar ticks those boxes too.

“The south west lakes Trust has been incredible and is providing boats and trailers to get anglers to pegs. on top of that, the fishing is incredible, with massive bream shoals, loads of roach and massive perch.

“To give anglers a feel for Tamar it’s holding a qualifier alongside nicholls pit in Kent to give anglers in the south venues to fish. Tickets at £35 go on sale in January – details on entry will be announced next month.”
