IN ITS many guises, the Connoisseur pole range has been one of Daiwa’s most popular sellers.

And now, after the launch of the G50 model a few years back, improvements in carbon technology and production have resulted in its successor leaving the company’s Scottish factory – the all-new G90.

Weight has been reduced to sit alongside an increase in strength and balance to make the G90 an attractive proposition. The price is a bit of a winner too, with shoppers likely to find the pole at a good few quid less than the £1,999 asking price.

The end result is a superb 16m match pole that’s easy to handle in all weathers, strong and reliable but silky in performance, with a lightning response and recovery on the strike.

It’s all down to the use of the latest Super MSG Nanoplus carbon technology which, when combined with Daiwa’s famed ITS Taping, Section Alignment System and Diamond Satin Paint finish, puts it firmly at the top of the tree.

On the top kit front, both the More Match and More Power options on the table feature Daiwa’s new Interlastic Power Kits of 4.7mm and 5.8mm tip diameters to take every elastic on the market.

Both are pre-bushed, with the new Interlastic side puller system. Match top-3 kits are also bushed and each No3 section has a PTFE nose cone to deliver the ultimate in elastic performance.

Another useful innovation is the Zoom Cupping Kit that can be used at multiple lengths between 2.21 and 2.76m. The supplied Phex Mini Extension takes the pole to its full 16m.
