New and existing famous-name poles, all blessed with Browning’s magic touch

browning xitan Z6-2 advance pole 14.5m set RRP: £1,199

THE new Z6-2 has all the hallmarks of its bigger brothers but at a more attractive price. The only difference is the use of different carbon grades, but balance, rigidity and lightness are all retained to the full.

The full range of Browning pole features is wrapped up in a package for every style and type of fishing and is also offered at 14.5m. This is sure to appeal to anglers who don’t need a pole that goes to 16m or 17.5m and who do much of their fishing at around 11m to 13m but may need an extension on the odd occasion.

Browning’s thinking is that a high quality 14.5m pole is better than a cheaper 16m model, and you can’t argue with that when you pick the Z6 up and give it a waggle. It’s light and stiff but has a reassuringly ‘strong’ feel at just 855g at 13m Supplied in the 14.5m set with five single length top kits and a cupping kit, there’s no cutting back needed.

All arrive pre-bushed and at the same length, with two tip diameters to take different grades of elastic. You also get two Square Pole Protector sections and section compatibility with current and previous Xitan poles. Optional 16m extension for those who want it.

browning xitan Z-16L advance pole 16m Pole only RRP: £2,599 13m set RRP: £2,299 16m set RRP: £2,999

THE Z-16L (L for Longer Section) follows in the footsteps of the highly regarded Xitan Z10, Z12 and Z14 as a 16m true length (without miniextension), very strong and reliable competition pole.

The Z16 will perform just as well on rivers and canals with lighter elastics, thanks to its perfect balance and response on the strike, and its lightness has to be felt to be believed.

Browning’s radical multi-length top kit design means you can use the same top kit as a 2.6m model or as a 1.95m one-piece kit by adding or removing the supplied Extender piece.

All kits have the Duo-Bush system, two PTFE bushes sat inside each other where the smaller one can be taken out to use thick elastics or left in for lighter grades. The one-piece kits will be handy for fishing shallow or using short lengths of elastic for silver fish. Spare Power C/3 sections are included to tackle deeper swims.

As with all Xitan poles, the Z16 packs ergonomic Square Pole Protectors that will take the pole to 16.8m when used, and there’s reinforcement just where it’s needed. This sees carbon over-wrapped male and female joint areas that resist sticking and minimise wear, plus carbon-reinforced grip areas on lower sections at the most common breakage areas.

Fully compatible with earlier Browning long section poles and top-6 section compatible with other Xitans, this is a pole firmly for the UK market.

xitan Z9-2 advance pole 13m Pole set RRP: £2,399 16m set RRP: £2,799

BROWNING’S best-selling ‘do everything’ pole is built from the latest and highest grade carbons. These state-of-the-art materials, combined with Browning’s long pole knowhow, result in the stunning Z9-2. The 16m of carbon is perfectly balanced and remarkably lightweight, but with ample reserves of strength and durability so essential to modern pole fishing.

Nine single length top kits in the package come pre-bushed and fitted with a unique Duo-bush that lets the angler choose the tip size. The pulla kits have a directional PTFE bush for ultra-smooth elastic operation and are rated to a No16/20.

Two power C/3 sections, plus a short C/3, are included. The Z9-2 is section-compatible with current and previous Xitan Power poles and has been treated with carbon over-wrap on male and female joints, coupled with carbon-reinforced grip areas on lower sections.

xitan Z8-2 advance pole 13m set RRP: £1,799 16m set RRP: £1,899

STRONGER, stiffer and lighter than the previous Z8 model, this pole retains all the positive original Xitan features too.

The Z8-2 is a real all-rounder and, like all Xitans, comes with Browning’s unique and comfortable Square Pole Protectors to fit the 11m, 13m and 14.5m/16m sections. Reinforcement is via a carbon over-wrap in the male and female joints and a carbon-reinforced grip area on the lower sections.

Fully section-compatible with current and previous Xitan Power poles, the extra seven supplied top kits are rated to No16/20 elastics, and are fitted with a Duo-bush to allow a choice of tip size. Seven pre-bushed single length kits all have a pulla kit fitted with an innovative directional PTFE bush.
