The wa­ter up­stream of Barm­ing Bridge is a prime spot for roach, bream, chub, bar­bel and pike. This var­ied stretch has a se­lec­tion of wide, deep ar­eas as well as some fast nar­row runs. The chub are a very wor­thy tar­get with fish over 5lb be­ing caught in matches. In clearer con­di­tions trot­ting with mag­gots is a su­perb tac­tic but switch to static baits such as cheese-paste in coloured wa­ter.
