RIVER NIDD, COWTHORPE, NORTH YORKSHIRE
THIS popular stretch of the Nidd has seen some excellent catches of chub and barbel being made in recent weeks. Maggot, hemp and caster are the best baits if the water level is low, and fishing these on both the float and feeder can produce.
This stretch offers a huge variety of different water to fish, from fast glides to deep, swirling pools. Take time trying to locate the fish before you start, and don’t be in a rush to cast out.
Feed a steady trickle of bait to get the fish competing before casting a bunch of maggots or casters into the swim.
There are also some dace, roach and grayling in this stretch alongside a wide range of other species to keep you busy while you wait for the big fish to feed.
