GRAFHAM CROC SHOCKS CAPTOR
39lb pike more than doubles Ben’s personal best
Ben Booth, 39lb pike, Grafham Water
THE FESTIVE period is always a time that predator anglers eagerly anticipate.
And sure enough, as the New Year arrived Ben Booth was rewarded for braving the elements when he landed one of the biggest pike ever to come out of Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire – a huge fish weighing 39lb.
The Watford, Hertfordshire rod had never caught a pike over 20lb before, so he and his father John were shocked when the massive female croc broke the surface after a powerful fight.
Ben was fishing a Savage Gear eel imitation lure to tempt the giant, which doubled his former personal best for the species.
